The TERRANOVA consortium consists of 8 universities, 3 ngo´s and 3 companies Non-academic beneficiaries include IUCN, the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organisation, and Rewilding Europe (RE), currently working in 13 different European countries and connecting rewilding initiatives in more than 20 European countries, form together with the academic beneficiaries an unprecedented unique intersectoral consortium to seek the balance between nature and culture in the European landscape.
TERRANOVA Coordinator Sjoerd Kluiving (VUA) is a quaternary geologist and geoarchaeologist. He is initiator and president of the International Association of Landscape Archaeology and is initiator and senior board member of the Environmental Humanities Center. Sjoerd has a clear interdisciplinary curriculum and is Assistant Professor Landscape Archaeology at the Humanities faculty at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He has vast experience in convening interdisciplinary sessions in soils, landscapes and archaeology at EGU, EAA and (has also initiated) LAC conferences and has been guest and executive editor of more than ten special volumes dedicated to this theme. In his research Sjoerd is specialised in Mediterranean and near eastern Geoarchaeology, the Anthropocene, and has a passion for glacial geology. Sjoerd is happily married to Ellen and has two sons Boas (22) and Lante (16). Sjoerd is a long-distance runner (5-10k), walks the stairs, plays the bass guitar, sings in a quartet, reads non-fiction and is a weekend home cook.
